Ice Miller Hosts Financial Consultant for Identity Theft Discussion
Yesterday morning, February 18, Ice Miller LLP hosted financial expert Peter Dunn for a discussion on data protection, with the goal of helping employees understand identity theft and what actions they can take to minimize their risk.
Dunn touched on topics such as the difference between identity theft and credit card theft, a proactive action plan to take for protection in case of a data breach and the consequences of freezing your credit. Dunn outlined his secrets to good credit, which include owning one credit card, avoiding opening store credit cards and paying your bills on time. He also provided instruction on how to freeze your credit and the reasons to do so. As Dunn states, “Your goal is not to care about your credit.”
“As technology evolves, the risk of identity theft increases,” said Carrie Houston, Ice Miller’s Chief Human Resources Officer. “We hope Pete the Planner’s presentation will help our employees take a proactive approach to protecting their personal data.”
