Ice Miller is Proud to be Recognized by Smart Business

Ice Miller is proud to be recognized by Smart Business as the Share Award winner for demonstrating exceptional employee-driven corporate philanthropy and as a winner of a 2015 Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service.
On January 29, Ice Miller and 16 other non-profit and for-profit organizations and individuals were recognized for their efforts and commitment to giving back to the community.  Susan Rector, a partner in Ice Miller’s Columbus office, accepted the award on behalf of the firm.
Ice Miller has a strong commitment to the communities it serves. The Firm’s attorneys and staff members are actively involved with many philanthropic and civic groups. Through their efforts, the Firm actively supports more than 100 nonprofit organizations.
“I’m proud of our firm, and all the people within it, who are dedicated to giving back and making Columbus such a great place to work and live. Community service has always been a hallmark of the firm and its people,” said Rector.
In Columbus, Ice Miller employees participate in many community service efforts, including Big Brothers Big Sisters Adopt-a-Family, Pelotonia, United Way, and the firm’s food pantry fundraising efforts, which benefit Columbus area families in need contributions to the Children’s Hunger Alliance and the MidOhio Food Bank.
During the summer, Ice Miller staff members participate in training for the annual Pelotonia race for which the firm raises several thousand dollars in addition to the Ice Miller Peloton team's fundraising efforts.
“We take our commitment to the community seriously, but carry it out happily,” said Tara Sciscoe, Chair of the Community Involvement Committee. “Giving back is simply the right thing to do.”
This award is presented Medical Mutual of Ohio and sponsored by Smart Business, Rea & Associates, Hughie’s Event Production Services, GREENCREST, and the Capital Square Review and Advisory Board.
The Pillar Award program was founded in 1998 and honors organizations and individuals that best demonstrate a commitment to making a difference.
