Types of bonds: Building Bonds

There are a number of different forms of bonds/debt that a school district may issue to meet its financing needs.

Building Bonds. The Code requires that general obligation bonds issued to pay the cost of acquiring school sites and buildings, equipping, altering, repairing and reconstructing new and existing school buildings and additions secured by an ad valorem tax on all property in the district without limitation as to rate or amount must be approved by voters of the issuer by referendum held at a regularly scheduled election.
