As released by the Indianapolis Bar Association
Annually, the Directors of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation honor members of the Indianapolis legal community who have significantly contributed to the profession and the community with the designation "Distinguished Fellow." Lawren Mills of Ice Miller Strategies LLC has been named to the 2014 class of Distinguished Fellows and was honored at the Indianapolis Bar Association and Foundation Recognition Luncheon on Thursday, November 14.
Contributions from Distinguished Fellows support the endowment of the IBF. The income from the endowment has made it possible for the foundation to play a vital role in financially supporting a variety of important programs and initiatives, including $140,000 in grant money to support IndyBar pro bono programs each year and an annual $35,000 Impact Fund grant to a local non-profit organization. Through this support, IBF dollars have impacted more than 18,000 low-income central Indiana residents in the last five years alone and have provided more than 580 pro bono opportunities for Indianapolis Bar Association members just this year.
In addition to monetary contributions to the IBF, Distinguished Fellows demonstrate their commitment to the Indianapolis community through foundation-hosted service projects held periodically each year. Past Fellows service projects have taken place at Second Helpings, Gleaner's Food Bank and the Ronald McDonald House.
The IBF is the charitable arm of the Indianapolis Bar Association. The foundation's Distinguished Fellows play an important role in the mission of the IBF: to advance justice and lead positive change in Indianapolis through philanthropy, education and service. In addition to pro bono funding and the Impact Fund Grant, the IBF also funds scholarships and a variety of educational programming.
