Diverse services for a diverse business.
CountryMark is a petroleum refiner, marketing company and a farmer-owned cooperative. One of only a few refineries located in the Midwest, CountryMark sources all of its 26,000 barrels per day of crude oil from the Illinois Basin, which has a current production capacity of approximately 50,000 barrels per day.
CountryMark owns private, dedicated petroleum distribution assets (a pipeline and distribution terminals) throughout Indiana and provides petroleum products for farm, commercial and residential use and serves more than 70 percent of the agricultural fuel market. The cooperative also is Indiana’s leader in biodiesel distribution and has converted all of its gasoline products to E-10 ethanol blends.
Although based in Indiana, CountryMark is a regional operation in an industry of huge, international petroleum firms. Given these industry constraints and also the political and regulatory uncertainty surrounding the growing renewable fuels industry, Ice Miller assists CountryMark in positioning itself for long-term sustainability.
CountryMark is aggressively pursuing new investments to diversify its business and add to its profitability. Ice Miller supported these efforts by providing cross-discipline assistance to successfully complete a Phase I biofuels grant from the U.S.Department of Energy, as well as corporate representation on the acquisition of assets of a Midwestern oil and gas exploration and production company.
