Ice Miller LLP

Professional Development

In order for the Firm to continue to prosper and grow, it must support the development of its most important asset, its people. We understand the importance of professional development and are dedicated to assisting our attorneys and staff with reaching their career goals. The Firm's Professional Development Committee and its career development partner are available to help you plan your long term career goals.

The Professional Development Committee is chaired by Ice Miller partner Rob Gauss and is comprised of associates, counsel, the Director of Legal Personnel and the Manager of Professional Development. The Committee meets regularly to discuss issues that relate to professional development, as well as concerns that impact the day-to-day practice of law for associates and counsel. As part of their mission, the committee also plans a number of social events to promote and support a sense of community within the firm.

Prior to each meeting, a representative from the Professional Development Committee contacts the associates to determine if there are any topics that need to be discussed.  It's just one more way to have your opinion heard!

Career Development Partner

Michael BoldtMichael Boldt, a partner in the Labor and Employment Group, is the Firm's career development partner, a position created for and dedicated to the advancement of the Firm's associates and counsel. The Firm's dedication to the mentoring and training of its attorneys drove the decision to create this position, which is unique among law firms across the country. Mike's responsibilities include mentoring attorneys through one-on-one meetings, informal professional training programs, and events. All conversations with Mr. Boldt are strictly confidential. However, if requested by the attorney, Mr. Boldt will coordinate with the involved partners and practice group chairs on the attorney's behalf.

"To be successful our attorneys need to develop in three distinct ways. First, it is essential they become sound technical lawyers. Second, they have to become known and trusted colleagues within the Firm. Finally, they should be active members of our community," stated Boldt. "I see my role as being a resource to our lawyers, to inspire and motivate them, so they can chart their own course to becoming successful attorneys."
