Employee Free Choice Act Introduced to Congress Today!
Employer Groups Calling Congress to Voice Opposition to Pending Legislation

Reports out of Washington, D.C. advise that organized labor's top legislative priority, the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), will be introduced in Congress today.  The proposed law will provide for certification of unions as the representatives of employees without secret ballot elections that have been the hallmark of U.S. democracy and national labor policy since 1935.

Democrats Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa and Representative Gary Miller of California have scheduled a press conference to discuss the introduction of the bill.

After a few weeks out of the spotlight, the EFCA recently received renewed life as both President Obama and Vice President Biden addressed the AFL-CIO at its winter meeting held March 2 at the posh Fontainebleau Resort in Miami, Fla. and voiced their continued support for the legislation.

As we have been advising for months, the EFCA would bring about the most sweeping change to U.S. labor policy in decades, and should be of interest to every employer.

Employer groups around the country, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Associated General Contractors and others, are calling on their members to contact members of Congress to voice opposition to the bill.
