SPECIAL BULLETIN

The Immigration Service will begin accepting H-1B temporary worker petitions for the 2008 Fiscal Year on April 1, 2007. If approved, H-1B status would become effective October 1, 2007.

Last year, the basic quota was filled in less than two months, and the special quota for holders of U.S. Masters Degrees was filled in less than four months. Because of the backlog that has built up since then, this year's quota will be filled much quicker.

The quota applies to foreign nationals who do not presently hold H-1B status, including recent graduates who are working during their one year of "OPT."

If you require assistance in petitioning under the FY 2008 quota, please contact Rick Parker or Jenifer Brown  now to avoid the "gold rush" scenario expected during the weeks leading up to April 1, 2007.
