| Three years before the new health care law takes full effect, a survey of employers has found 30 percent of them are thinking about dropping coverage, in part because most employees will have an alternative -- government-subsidized insurance exchanges. McKinsey & Company commissioned a survey of 1,329 private sector employers in February and found that three out of 10 respondents who said their companies offered employer-sponsored health insurance said they would "definitely" or "probably" drop coverage in the years following 2014, the year the Affordable Care Act takes full effect. |

| The House voted in near lockstep to repeal a law aimed at compelling government contractors to pay all their taxes, sparking squabbling over which party was doing the most to create jobs but leaving economists underwhelmed that much of anything had been achieved. By 405-16, lawmakers voted to annul a five-year-old law requiring federal, state and many local governments to withhold three percent of their payments to contractors until their taxes are paid. |

| AT&T has settled a nationwide lawsuit by a U.S. agency accusing it of age discrimination for refusing to rehire tens of thousands of workers who had retired from the largest U.S. telephone company. The three-year consent decree resolves an August 2009 lawsuit by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which enforces federal anti-discrimination laws. |

| A Northern Virginia man is filing a discrimination lawsuit against one of the nation's most secretive intelligence agencies, claiming it revoked his security clearance because his wife attended an Islamic school and works for a Muslim nonprofit group. Mahmoud M. Hegab, hired in 2010 as a budget analyst for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, sued in U.S. District Court in Alexandria and asked the agency to reverse its decision to revoke his clearance and place him on unpaid leave. |

As baby boomers' ages increase while their 401(K) balances decline, employers can expect to see more retired employees apply for re-employment than ever before. A recent study by Putnam Investments estimated that seven million previously retired people, or about 10 per cent of the workforce over age 40, are now back at work or looking for jobs. Today, nearly one-fourth of all people in the 65-to-74 age group hold jobs, compared with just one in six only two decades ago, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
