Ice Miller’s Bechdol Plays Key Role in Indiana Food and Agriculture Innovation Initiative
Beth Bechdol, Director of Agribusiness Strategies at Ice Miller, has been named as the loaned Executive Director of the new Indiana Food and Agriculture Innovation Initiative (IFAII), a strategic project announced yesterday that will come under the umbrella of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) and BioCrossroads. Bechdol will work closely with the state of Indiana and key academic and industry stakeholders in this venture, while she continues to maintain her current position at Ice Miller.
“More technology and innovation investment will be required of Indiana's food and agricultural sector in order to remain competitive, to grow and to ultimately find solutions to meeting the challenges of feeding a growing global population and protecting natural resources," said Melissa Proffitt Reese, chair of Ice Miller's Food and Agribusiness practice. “Ice Miller is pleased and honored to support the industry in its pursuit of greater collaboration and strategic growth, and we are especially excited to be a part of the work Beth and the Indiana Food and Agriculture Innovation Initiative have begun.”
The Food and Agriculture Innovation Initiative’s initial plans are to build awareness of the industry’s ingenuity and value through branding and targeted promotion of Indiana’s food and agriculture innovation landscape, expand collaboration among key stakeholders in strategic areas such as health and nutrition and agricultural productivity, and support the formation of new innovative companies in Indiana.
