Ice Miller holds agriculture policy forum – features Indiana Congressional members and agribusiness CEOs
On Sept. 4, Ice Miller LLP hosted a farm policy seminar to help the food and agriculture industry understand critical issues that arguably have a long-term impact on the industry - the budget and a continuing resolution, healthcare reform, energy, immigration, trade, infrastructure and many others. Republican Reps. Marlin Stutzman of Indiana’s third congressional district and Susan Brooks of the fifth congressional district, as well as agribusiness leaders from Beck's and JBS United, spoke to guests about their own perspectives and the myriad of issues swirling in Washington. Also a hot topic of interest was what delaying implementation of the employer penalties under the shared responsibility requirements of the Affordable Care Act until 2015 means to the employer.
Ice Miller presenters included Melissa Proffitt Reese on the topic of Healthcare Reform, Beth Bechdol on the future of the farm bill and policy and regulatory issues and Clay Heil on the topic of the federal budget & sequestration.
