Ice Miller Welcomes Senior Counsel, Sarah Lynn, to Columbus Location
Ice Miller LLP is pleased to welcome Sarah E. Lynn to the Environmental/Natural Resources Practice Group in the Columbus office. Sarah has extensive experience serving both governmental and business clients. Sarah's governmental experience includes serving as a member of the Environmental Review Appeals Commission (ERAC), as Assistant Legal Counsel for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), and Deputy Chief Counsel for Ohio Attorney General's office and the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO). While in private practice, Sarah assisted a wide range of clients on environmental matters including regulatory compliance and brownfields redevelopment.
Most recently, Sarah served as the Deputy Chief Legal Officer at the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO). While there, Sarah was the lead attorney responsible for handling environmental compliance for SWACO operations and civil enforcement of SWACO rules. She was also responsible for major projects which included negotiation and implementation of landfill gas/energy purchase agreements and litigation oversight. In addition, Sarah developed and implemented the reorganization of the legal department to improve internal utilization of legal resources, which resulted in significant cost savings and risk-management improvements. Furthermore, Sarah was responsible for planning and directing the day-to-day legal services and direct management of departmental staff on matters involving environmental law, public contracting, real estate transactions, ethics and sunshine laws and labor and employment law.

Sarah is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA), serving on the Environmental Law and Real Estate Law Committees, and is a frequent speaker and Past Chair for the OSBA Annual Environmental and Energy Law Seminar. Sarah also serves on the Environmental and Governmental Law Committees of the Columbus Bar Association. She is a member of the Advisory Council for the American Constitution Society, serves on the Women's Board for the Franklin Park Conservatory, is President of the Board of Trustees for Early Care and Learning, and is a member of the Board of Governors for the Hoover Sailing Club. She was formerly on the Board of Trustees for the Columbus Montessori Education Center.
Ice Miller's Environmental/Natural Resources Practice Group has assisted companies with permits and regulatory compliance, helped clients work through the environmental ramifications of large corporate mergers, worked with state and local governmental officials when environmental disasters occur, pursued and defended complex environmental lawsuits, dealt with insurance companies when coverage for environmental liabilities is in question, assisted private/public partnerships redevelop brownfields and defended class action lawsuits involving exposure to toxic waste.
