Non-Citizens Beware: Immigration Scam Alert
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency is reporting a potential scam targeting non-citizens by individuals claiming to work for ICE’s Detention Reporting and Information Line (DRIL). The ICE Alert states that non-citizens are being targeted with claims of problems with their immigration cases and that money should be paid to rectify those issues. ICE has confirmed that DRIL operators do not make outbound calls or request money from individuals. Anyone receiving such an inquiry is encouraged to report the incident, along with any additional information that could be useful to the investigation by calling the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Joint Intake Center at (866) 347-2423.
