Professional Experience:
Mark Jones is chair of the Collegiate Sports Practice and will concentrate on NCAA infractions and compliance matters along with providing services in connection with NCAA governance and related issues. He also works with Ice Miller's college and university clients on variety of matters.

Jones focuses on providing assistance and guidance regarding athletics infractions and compliance issues to a nationwide clientele. Drawing upon his 18 years of experience at the NCAA, Jones is able to advise clients facing potential or confirmed NCAA violations at the secondary or major level. Services include investigation of potential violations; development of strategies; preparation of the report to the NCAA; presentation to the Committee on Infractions and assistance with any appeals. He also assists clients with completing self-reports of secondary violations, submitting student-athlete reinstatement eligibility appeals, preparing administrative review subcommittee waivers, and other compliance related issues.

Jones comes to Ice Miller after 18 years of NCAA enforcement experience, having most recently served as NCAA managing director of enforcement where he supervised enforcement representatives, wrote official inquiries (now known as notices of allegations) to document violations, prepared presentations and provided opening/closing remarks before the NCAA Committee on Infractions, served as a liaison between the NCAA and the American Football Coaches Association, made presentations at NCAA seminars, and served as a liaison to the NCAA Bowl Certification Subcommittee and the Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct Committee. Before his position as managing director, Jones served as an enforcement representative where he investigated violations of NCAA legislation, assisted in writing allegations for official inquiries, and presented to the Committee on Infractions.

He also works with Ice Miller's college and university clients on variety of matters.

Mark received his Bachelor of Science in 1980 and his Masters of Education in 1983, both from the University of Missouri. As an undergraduate at Missouri, Jones was a three-year starter on the football team, and co-captain his senior year. He then served two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Missouri before becoming a full-time position coach at Tennessee Tech University for the 1984 and 1985 seasons.
