Full Biography: Scott James Preston

When necessary, Mr. Preston represents clients in state and federal court, as well as before administrative agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Outside the court room, Mr. Preston assists clients in developing personnel policies, handbooks, individual employment contracts, severance agreements, and supervisory training programs, all of which are targeted at avoiding employment-related disputes and litigation. Mr. Preston is also a member of Ice Miller's Collegiate Sports Practice Group which represents NCAA member institutions on issues relating to NCAA infractions.

Mr. Preston is a member of the American Bar Association's Labor and Employment Section, the California Bar Association's Labor and Employment Section, and the National Association of College and University Attorneys. He frequently lectures on employment-related topics ranging from the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and other federal employment statutes. In addition, Mr. Preston lectures on litigation-related topics, most recently on the 2006 Amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure governing the discovery obligations of electronically stored information.

Mr. Preston joined Ice Miller LLP in January of 2005. He was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and Creighton University School of Law in Omaha. Although he has not lived in Nebraska for nearly 15 years, he still maintains his Nebraska football tickets and regularly attends games both home and away.
