Full Biography: Mark Bogdanowicz

Mark Bogdanowicz is an associate in the Bankruptcy and Debtor/Creditor Disputes Practice Group and Employee Benefits Group of Ice Miller LLP. His practice focuses on the representation of secured and unsecured creditors in all aspects of Chapter 11 cases and the interplay of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights issues with other complex substantive areas of law, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights law with employee benefits law. In addition to insolvency and benefits work, Mark’s practice includes transactional work in the area of the Uniform Commercial Code and commercial litigation.

Mark applies his creativity and his understanding of bankruptcy and secured transactions law to find solutions to the challenges facing his clients. He has represented receivables financiers and equipment financiers in Chapter 11 construction cases, commercial landlords in complex Chapter 11 retail cases and commercial lenders in inter-creditor disputes. He also has advised public and private pension fund sponsors and administrators with regard to various creditors’ rights and bankruptcy issues, including unusual issues arising in the context of Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcies. Mark has counseled borrowers with respect to complex financing arrangements, including conduit financing transactions and securitizations of receivables. He regularly advises clients in the drafting and negotiation of contracts in the area of commercial law.

Mark recently taught a CLE entitled “Review of the Treatment of Pensions and Retirement Plans in Bankruptcies filed under Chapters 7, 11 & 13” before the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association of which he is a member. He is also a member of the Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Section of the Indiana State Bar Association.

Mark Bogdanowicz graduated, with honors, from Harvard University in 1995 with a bachelor of arts in economics. He received his juris doctorate from the Vanderbilt University School of Law in May 2000, where he served as Articles Editor for the Vanderbilt Law Review. He is admitted to practice law in the states of Indiana and Tennessee and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, the Northern District of Indiana and the Middle District of Tennessee.
