Full Biography: Jody DeFord
In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. DeFord counsels clients with respect to risk management and litigation avoidance. She also regularly counsels clients in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries regarding contract issues and compliance with FDA and other governmental regulations.
Ms. DeFord earned her bachelor of arts, with distinction, from Indiana University in 1995. She received her juris doctorate, cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, in 1999, where she was a member of the Indiana Law Review and Phi Alpha Delta. After law school, she served as an intern at the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission in Sydney, Australia, and as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert H. Staton and the Honorable Paul D. Mathias of the Indiana Court of Appeals.
Ms. DeFord is a member of the 2008 Indianapolis Bar Leadership Program. She is an emeritus member of the board of directors of Dress for Success Indianapolis, a local non-profit that helps low-income women in the central Indiana community achieve self-sufficiency. She is also the President of OPTIONS Alumni, a philanthropy program of the Women's Fund of Central Indiana.
Ms. DeFord is admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana, as well as before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
