Full Biography: Mark C. Reichel
Mark Reichel is an associate in the Firm's intellectual property group. He focuses his practice on patent drafting and prosecution, patent litigation support, and general intellectual property matters.
Prior to joining Ice Miller, Mr. Reichel served as a business development manager at the Indiana University Research & Technology Corporation (IURTC), the organization handling the intellectual property generated at Indiana University. Mr. Reichel joined the IURTC from Indiana University, where he served as an assistant director with the Corporate Contracts Administration group in the office of Research & Sponsored Programs, where he focused on negotiating research, clinical trial, confidentiality, and material transfer agreements on behalf of Indiana University.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Reichel worked as a scientist with Collaborative Laboratories (part of The Collaborative Group) in Stony Brook, New York, and in East Setauket, New York. For just over four years, Mr. Reichel focused on research & development of cosmetic and research-grade pharmaceutical raw materials, as well as performing general material testing for efficacy and stability.
Mr. Reichel maintains an intellectual property law blog, the Daily Dose of IP, where he provides information on a daily basis regarding changes in patent practice and procedure, recent Federal Circuit patent opinions, recently issued U.S. patents, and upcoming IP seminars to those interested in and practicing intellectual property law. Mr. Reichel is currently involved with the Indianapolis Bar Association, Intellectual Property section, as the Chair-Elect of the IP Executive Committee, where he participates in the organization of seminars and events surrounding numerous fields of intellectual property law. Mr. Reichel is also involved with the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) as a member of the Young Lawyers Committee, and currently serves as a Board member of Agave, the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art’s Young Professionals Auxiliary.
Mr. Reichel joined Ice Miller in 2005. He is admitted to practice in Indiana, New York, and New Jersey, and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
