Professional Experience:
Tyler Kalachnik is an associate in the Firm's Municipal Finance Group. Kalachnik has served as bond counsel, underwriter's counsel, disclosure counsel and borrower's counsel for both long-term and short-term financings involving the pledge of revenues, taxes or a combination thereof. Kalachnik also has experience in transactions involving letters of credit, standby bond purchase agreements and interest rate swaps.
Representative financings include single and multi-family housing projects, airports, municipal gas utilities, prepaid natural gas transactions, municipal water utilities, Indiana's State Revolving Fund Program, solid waste disposal facilities, 501(c)(3) organizations, road improvements, park improvements, storm water districts, economic development facilities, and temporary loan warrants for political subdivisions and school corporations.
Kalachnik is a 1999 graduate of Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. In 2003, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in business from Indiana University Bloomington. In 2006, he earned his juris doctorate, summa cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis.
While in law school, Kalachnik was selected and served as a contracts tutor in the Dean's Tutorial Society, an articles editor for the Indiana Law Review, and was a member of the Committee on Diversity Initiative.
Kalachnik is a regular participant in activities of the National Association of Bond Lawyers through speaking engagements and contributions to the NABL education committee. From 2008 to 2011, Kalachnik served on NABL's Functions and Professional Responsibility subcommittee, which completed a revision of the third edition of The Function and Professional Responsibilities of Bond Counsel.
Kalachnik is active in the community through his involvement as a volunteer tutor and member of the program committee for a charitable organization dedicated to the education of homeless children. In 2009, Kalachnik was named an Up and Coming Lawyer by The Indiana Lawyer.
He joined Ice Miller in September of 2006 and is licensed to practice law in the state of Indiana.
