Full Biography: Sarah Akber
Recent immigration matters include employment based immigrant and nonimmigrant petitions, J-1 waivers, family based adjustment of status, and researching emerging areas of immigration law and pending immigration reform legislation.
Ms. Akber is originally from Georgia and attended Agnes Scott College in Atlanta. In 2002, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in international relations, with honors. During her studies, Ms. Akber interned with the Carter Center’s Peace Program and with community organizations in Atlanta, helping to provide social services to low-income refugees from Kosovo, Somalia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. She continues to serve immigrants in need through her volunteer affiliations.
In 2006, she earned a juris doctorate from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis. While in law school, Ms. Akber was a Board Member of Equal Justice Works and Co-Chair of the Committee on Diversity Initiatives.
