Professional Experience:
Mark Richards' primary practice concentration is in business law, with a focus on federal and state taxation, and with many clients in the sports industry.

In addition to tax planning, Richards represents clients in tax dispute resolutions with the Internal Revenue Service, the Indiana Department of Revenue and in property tax disputes. He is also a tax litigator with experience in the United States Tax Court and the Federal District Courts, the Indiana Tax Court, and the Indiana Supreme Court. Richards has represented numerous privately held and public companies, including small, midsized and large Fortune 500 companies, in various federal and state tax disputes, and is counsel on many reported decisions.
Richards represents many renowned sports organizations and athletes, most notably as counsel to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indy Racing League.

Originally from Columbus, Ind., Richards graduated, with honors, from the Indiana University Business School in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in accounting. He obtained his juris doctorate from the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, where he graduated summa cum laude in 1985.

Richards joined Ice Miller in 1985 after graduating from law school. He is admitted to practice law in the state of Indiana.
