Full Biography: Taretta Shine
Taretta Shine is a paralegal with Ice Miller's employee benefits group. Her specific areas of concentration are the design and implementation of welfare benefit plans and qualified retirement plans, preparation of summary plan descriptions and administrative forms, review of administrative contracts and agreements, COBRA compliance, HIPAA compliance, FMLA compliance, state and federal filings, compliance with recent legislation and regulations, preparation of IRS submissions for qualification of retirement plans, preparation of employee communication materials, and working with clients regarding plan administration issues.
Ms. Shine has nearly 14 years experience in the health care, insurance, and employee benefits fields. Originally from the Chicago area, Ms. Shine began her employee benefits career as an employee benefits intern with Motorola, Inc. from 1992 to 1994. She gained additional employee benefits experience as an underwriter for the health insurance company United Healthcare and the property/casualty insurance company Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance Company. After obtaining her paralegal certificate, Ms. Shine worked as a paralegal for CNA Insurance from 1996 to 1999 and then for First Health until 2001.
While living in the Chicago area, Ms. Shine was a member of the Illinois Paralegal Association. She also volunteered as a tutor for the non-profit agency Literacy Chicago from 1996 to 2000 where she taught English as a Second Language.
Ms. Shine earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Bradley University in 1994. In addition, she earned a paralegal certificate from the American Institute of Paralegal Studies in 1996.
Ms. Shine joined Ice Miller in April 2001.
