Professional Experience:
Carrie McCaw serves as practice group manager for Ice Miller's Collegiate Sports Group, where she coordinates the day-to-day operations and conducts much of the research on NCAA legislation, prior decisions and actions, and other compliance matters. She also works with Ice Miller's college and university clients on variety of matters.
McCaw's collegiate sports experience includes conducting compliance reviews; assisting with NCAA certification; assisting with major and secondary infractions investigations, document drafting and organization, and hearing preparation; drafting infractions and reinstatement appeals documents; drafting ARS and SAR waiver requests; and conducting background research on international student-athletes. She has also developed many presentations dealing with compliance issues, which serve as an educational tool for member institutions.
McCaw, a native of Louisville, Ky., attended Syracuse University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in managerial law and public policy, with a minor in political science, in 1998. She also earned her Master of Science in management from Indiana Wesleyan in 2002. As part of the completion of her master's degree, she authored, "The Cutting Edge of Title IX: Alternative Solutions to Cutting Men's Teams."
Prior to joining Ice Miller, she worked in the Office of Athletic Compliance and was a member of the Commitment to Equity Sub-Committee during the NCAA Certification of Syracuse University. She also competed on the women's volleyball team, where she was named to the All-Big East Team and All-Big East Academic All-Star Team several times. She spent the 1998 season as the first assistant volleyball coach at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.
McCaw joined Ice Miller in June 1999.
