Full Biography: Mary Beth Braitman
Mary Beth Braitman's primary area of law is employee benefits where she represents a number of public retirement systems and educational institutions. She works with numerous public pension plans around the country on tax issues, plan design issues, plan qualification issues, IRS compliance issues, fiduciary issues, and health care issues.
She is a frequent writer and speaker on public plan issues. Ms. Braitman is a member of the Executive Board of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys (NAPPA), the National Council of Teachers Retirement, the National Association of Governmental Deferred Compensation Administrators, and the Indiana Municipal Lawyers Association.
Ms. Braitman earned her bachelor of science in management from Indiana University, Bloomington, graduating in 1971. She earned her juris doctorate, summa cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis in 1981.
Mary Beth Braitman was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. She joined Ice Miller in 1981, and is the Chair of the Employee Benefits Group. She previously worked with the Internal Revenue Service in the Employee Plans/Exempt Organization Division, working on qualification and tax issues involving retirement plans.
