Professional Experience:
Harry L. Gonso's primary areas of practice concentration are in general corporate and transaction law. He leads the Firm's Life Sciences Group.
Gonso served as Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels' senior counsel and chief of staff during 2005 and 2006.
He has served as chairman of the Indiana State Bar Association Section on Corporation, Banking and Securities Law, as well as a number of panels and commissions. He served 18 years on the board of trustees of Indiana University. He has also been active in numerous civic, cultural and educational organizations including service on the boards of directors of: Community Hospital Foundation, Community Hospitals, Methodist Sports Medicine Foundation, American College of Sports Medicine Foundation, Skyline Club, Indianapolis Tennis Championships, Municipal Recreation, Inc., and as a member of the Penrod Society.
Gonso has been actively involved in life sciences and currently serves on the advisory board for Regenerative Biology and Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine, as well as the Indiana University Foundation board of directors. Gonso is also a founding member of Twilight Venture Partners, an Indianapolis based life science venture capital firm. He is on the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute External Advisory Committee, Indiana University Kelley School of Business Life Sciences Industry Advisory Board, and the IUPUI School of Science Leadership Council.
The Sagamore of the Wabash has been bestowed on Gonso by Indiana Governors Bowen, Orr and Daniels.
Originally from Findlay, Ohio, he received his Bachelor of Science from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1970. He earned his juris doctorate from the Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington, where he graduated with honors in 1973.
Gonso joined Ice Miller in 1980, retired on Jan. 10, 2005 to serve Governor Daniels and rejoined the Firm on Dec. 15, 2006. He is admitted to practice law in the state of Indiana.
