Full Biography: Susan Barnhizer Rivas

Susan Barnhizer Rivas practices in the areas of antitrust, trade regulation, financial institutions and general business law. She has had primary responsibility for development and management of Ice Miller's antitrust practice. Her experience has included a number of civil and criminal government investigations, including second requests under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act. She regularly counsels clients on the full range of antitrust issues, including structuring of acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, marketing, distribution, pricing strategies and development of document retention policies. Her experience also includes corporate and regulatory counseling of financial institutions.

Ms. Rivas is the author of numerous articles and is a frequent speaker on antitrust law.

Ms. Rivas is a member of the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association.

A native of Lapel, Indiana, she attended Purdue University, receiving her undergraduate degree in 1974 and an M.A. in 1976. She also worked on a Ph.D. at Purdue University. In 1984, she received her juris doctorate summa cum laude from Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis.

Ms. Rivas joined Ice Miller in 1993 after having served as Counsel to DowElanco and prior to that as an associate in the financial institutions practice group of Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C. She is admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana and in Washington, D.C.
