Professional Experience:
Bill Lyon, Ph.D. is a practice group specialist in the Firm's Intellectual Property Group. His focus is on patent prosecution, licensing of intellectual property, litigation support, biotechnology and life sciences. He also has experience working with universities and startup companies.
In particular, he has experience in dealing with intellectual property issues in various biological and medical related areas such as pharmaceuticals, molecular biology, stem cells, nanotechnology, anti-cancer therapeutics, diagnostics and medical devices.
Lyon earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from Indiana University in 1992 and his Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 2000. During his doctoral work, his research was focused on the molecular and biochemical analysis of Streptococcus pyogenes, the causative agent of a number of human diseases such as strep throat, toxic shock syndrome and necrotizing fasciitis.
Prior to joining Ice Miller, he was an associate director of life sciences at the Indiana University Research and Technology Corporation, the organization responsible for managing the intellectual property developed at Indiana University.
Lyon is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
