Roberto Ramirez is an associate in Ice Miller's Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Disputes Practice Group with a primary practice concentration in bankruptcy and commercial transactions.

Full Biography:
Roberto Ramirez is an associate in Ice Miller's Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Disputes Practice Group with a primary concentration in bankruptcy and commercial transactions. Roberto has represented clients in a variety of commercial matters including secured and unsecured creditors in collection and replevin actions, actions on notes, guaranties, mechanics' liens, and other contracts, and enforcement of foreign judgments in Indiana. As part of Roberto's bankruptcy law practice, he has represented creditors including landlords with lessees in bankruptcy, secured creditors, and trade creditors with unsecured or administrative claims. Roberto has defended preferences cases asserted by debtors in bankruptcy against creditors. Roberto works to understand his clients' business needs in order to develop a legal strategy to achieve his clients' goals.

Roberto's extensive knowledge of secured transactions and commercial law allows him to assist clients in structuring commercial transactions with the goal of protecting clients interests. In his practice, Roberto routinely counsels businesses on a wide range of commercial matters including assessing and minimizing risk in contracts with vendors. Roberto brings a unique perspective to addressing client's legal needs and understands that properly documenting a transaction and allocating risks and responsibilities when entering into an agreement can avoid litigation in the future. When litigation does become necessary, Roberto has experience in prosecuting, defending, and negotiating settlement of breach of contract claims and other business disputes.

Roberto is active in the legal community and within Ice Miller. Roberto seeks to increase diversity within the legal profession and serves on the Indianapolis Bar Association's Diversity Task Force and the Indiana State Bar Association's Latino Affairs Committee. Within Ice Miller, Roberto serves on the firm's Diversity & Inclusion Committee and Professional Development Committee. Roberto is also a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the American Bar Association.

Prior to joining Ice Miller, Roberto earned a bachelor of fine arts in theatre from Ohio University in 2000. He earned his juris doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis in 2005. While in law school, Roberto served as an executive articles editor for the Washington University Journal of Law and Policy and as the president of the Latin American Law Students Association. Roberto is admitted to practice in the State of Indiana, as well as in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
