Maureen Maffei is an attorney in Ice Miller’s Labor, Employment and Immigration group, where she routinely counsels employers regarding employee handbooks, employee contracts, separation agreements, FLMA, FLSA, and general personnel issues, including employee investigations and best practices audits.
Maureen has represented private employers in matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Labor, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, the Illinois Human Rights Commission and the Illinois Department of Employment Security. She has experience in federal and state court, as well as various federal and state administrative agencies.
Maureen also handles breach of contract matters, landlord tenant disputes, collection proceedings, representing clients dealing with these sorts of claims in court, mediation and arbitration proceedings. In addition, she handles probate administration and assists clients with post-decree matters when needed.
Maureen received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1991 from the University of Houston. After graduation she worked in management for eight years in the hospitality industry before attending law school. She received her Juris Doctor in 2001 from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
Maureen is a member of the Illinois State Bar, as well as a member of the following Federal Bars: Northern District of Illinois, Northern District of Indiana, Eastern District of Wisconsin, and the District of Colorado.
