Michael Melliere has served as bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, letter of credit bank counsel, borrower’s counsel, and issuer’s counsel on a variety of tax exempt financings for 501(c)(3) organizations, such as independent schools, charter schools, nursing homes and long-term care facilities, hospitals, senior living communities, and cultural and recreational facilities.
Michael has served as bond or underwriter's counsel on charter school financings in Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, North Carolina, Arizona, Louisiana and California.
Michael is also experienced in assisting faith-based organizations and schools in securing tax-exempt financing in states where schools cannot otherwise utilize such financing due to constitutional impediments. He has served as bond counsel on a number of tax-exempt bond issues issued by the Colorado Educational and Cultural Facilities Authority (CECFA) and the Public Finance Authority (PFA) through their multi-state financing programs.
Michael frequently speaks on tax-exempt financing topics and has been a panelist at conferences such as the National Association of Bond Lawyers' Workshop, the Ohio Housing Council and the Ohio Housing Conference.
