Ruth Jackson is a legal nurse consultant in Ice Miller's Drug and Device Practice Group, working in the areas of pharmaceutical and medical device products liability, toxic tort and personal injury defense.
As a registered nurse in the state of Indiana, Ruth assists attorneys by collecting, organizing, evaluating, summarizing and analyzing medical records, as well as other pertinent documents. She also researches and integrates medical literature as it relates to specific case issues and facts, educates attorneys regarding medical issues, and drafts legal documents under the supervision of attorneys. She has assisted with multidistrict litigation, mediation and trial preparation.
Prior to joining Ice Miller, Ms. Jackson established a 27 year nursing career that most recently involved working as a registered nurse in the Critical Care Units at a local hospital. This 12 year span allowed her to work in the Intensive Care Unit, the Coronary Care Unit, Surgical Cardiovascular Care Unit, and the Renal/Dialysis Unit. She has also been the manager of the Surgical Services Department Surgical Suites for 10 years. This position included the daily management of the operating room personnel, specialized sterilization unit, the surgical department supply and equipment area. In addition, her early surgical clinical practice included all intraoperative surgical specialties, pre and post-operative patient care, and endoscopy.
Ruth obtained her initial nursing diploma from Wishard Hospital School of Nursing in 1977. She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1991 from Indiana University. She has also completed graduate nursing courses at Indiana University.
Ruth joined Ice Miller in September 2004.
