Ice Miller's Employee Benefits Group represents employers, plans and service providers in disputes involving employee benefits and employee benefit plans.
Our clients include small professional organizations, Fortune 100 companies, public retirement systems, insurance companies and other service providers. If involved early in a dispute, we try to address the underlying issues to avoid costly litigation. Some disputes involve a single participant's claim that his or her pension amount has been incorrectly calculated or that a medical claim was wrongly denied. Others involve large class actions alleging violations of ERISA and/or applicable tax laws. The Employee Benefits Group also represents employers and/or plans in disputes, including litigation, with the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Labor and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. Because of our long-term involvement with these agencies and the mutual trust and respect that this involvement has generated, we are often able to resolve disputes with governmental agencies early in the process on a cost-effective basis.
