For the third year, Ice Miller is pleased to team up with the Indiana Chamber of Commerce to present the seminar "Employing a Hispanic Workforce: Legal and Cultural Issues." In conjunction with the Indiana Chamber, and developed by Jenifer Brown and Tami Earnhart of Ice Miller, this seminar will take place on February 15, 2005, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and will be filled with information to help you face legal and cultural issues that could affect your business.

As the Latino population in Indiana (as well as nationally) has grown, so has the need to better understand potential issues when employing a Hispanic workforce. This seminar covers various issues of importance to employers, such as: communications quandaries, social security "mismatch" issues, national origin discrimination, and immigration reform. The seminar will also include a panel discussion with managers and human resources professionals on their real life experiences in embracing the Hispanic culture in the workplace.

Finally, we are pleased to have Susan Brooks, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, as our Keynote Speaker. Ms. Brooks will speak on recognizing human trafficking and the Department of Justice's role in enforcing other immigration violations.

Areas to be discussed include:

  • Communications quandaries
  • Social security "mismatch" issues
  • national origin discrimination
  • Immigration reform
  • Panel discussion on embracing the Hispanic culture in the workplace.

Who Should Attend?

This one-day seminar is primarily designed for Human Resource personnel, Personnel Directors (managers and staff), Operations Managers, Administration Directors, Employee Relations Specialists, Small Business Owners, and Supervisors..
