Ice Miller LLP, in conjunction with the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority (IHCDA), presents the 2008 Tax Credit Compliance Workshops.
2008 Beginner Tax Credit Seminar
Ice Miller LLP will be presenting three (3) beginner training seminars on compliance with the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Program for the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA). This seminar will give participants an overview of the LIHTC Program, but will mainly focus on the federal and state compliance requirements for LIHTC developments in Indiana. This seminar will take the participant through all of the relevant LIHTC compliance requirements and the specific household eligibility requirements for residents at LIHTC financed housing including: calculating, verifying and certifying household income using the HUD Handbook 4350.3 and using actual documents that should be contained in a resident file. Additionally, the seminar will cover the procedures IHCDA uses when monitoring LIHTC developers and which compliance issues will be reported to the Internal Revenue Service. At the end of this seminar the participant will know the specific compliance rules pertaining to the LIHTC Program and understand why compliance with the program is so important. Ice Miller is happy to present three opportunities to attend this seminar. The training sessions will be held on March 4, July 22 and again on December 3, 2008.
2008 Owner Tax Credit Compliance Webinar Training
The Owner Tax Credit Compliance Webinar is a half day training webinar for the owners of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties. Participants will learn general compliance rules for LIHTC properties as well as how and when credit is calculated for a property. However, the webinar will primarily focus on how owners can work with property management staff to ensure that the property continues to remain in compliance for the entire compliance period. We will also explore the owner's responsibilities during compliance monitoring reviews and the consequences to an owner with noncompliance at a property. Owners, investors and compliance staff will find this webinar most informative. This webinar will be offered twice in 2008, February 20th and again on September 17th.
2008 Property Manager Advanced Tax Credit Webinar Training
This advanced training will cover topics such as leasing a mixed income and/or mixed use development, combining other funding compliance requirements such as Section 8, HOME, tax-exempt bonds, etc. with the LIHTC Program, and the latest updates by the IRS, HUD and IHCDA to the LIHTC Program. It will also focus on how the property management staff can work with the owner to ensure compliance at a property and will explore the toughest income and household eligibility challenges. For your convenience Ice Miller will be offering this webinar twice in 2008, April 9th and again on November 6th.
Individuals who have worked with the LIHTC Program 3 years or longer and who have attended a past IHCDA sponsored LIHTC training will find this training the most beneficial.
Owners and Management Companies of LIHTC developments that wish to receive their IRS Form 8609 for their development are required to attend an IHCDA sponsored LIHTC training prior to issuances of IRS Form 8609.
