Properties contaminated by petroleum or other hazardous substances may frequently be used despite the existence of contamination in the soils, groundwater, or surface waters. However, it is sometimes necessary or advisable to remove or reduce contaminants through remediation. Ice Miller has helped clients conduct remediations where it has been required by state agencies in Indiana, Illinois and Maryland. Additionally, Ice Miller has helped clients conduct remeditions where remediation is voluntary. We have helped clients obtain No Further Action Letters, Certificates of Completion and Covenants Not to Sue, depending upon the remediation program involved.
