Governmental Entities
Ice Miller has represented clients relating to:
- Water treatment plant NPDES permitting issues and enforcement actions, including sewer ban issues.
- Drafting and amending local ordinances in areas such as sewer use and pretreatment.
- Working with local governments on issues relating to Brownfield Redevelopment.
- Representing the interest of local governments when new industries arrive, in areas such as development, permitting and compliance with rules and regulations.
- Drinking water permitting and allegations of contamination.
- Wetlands permitting through the United States Army Corps of Engineers and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
- Acquisition of property by government and all related issues, including responsibility for pre-existing contamination and demolition issues.
- Creation of environmental impact statements for large governmental projects and working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers when necessary.
- Combined sewer overflow and stormwater issues.
Ice Miller has been particularly active in the representation of Solid Waste Management Districts and the host of issues regularly dealt with by those entities. We have helped create many of these entities in the State of Indiana.
