Environmental Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA)
In recent representations, Ice Miller has:
- Coordinated a comprehensive safety and health audit for three facilities of a major retail mail order company operating in Indiana;
- Assisted the same client in coordinating a month-long IOSHA ergonomics inspection at one of the facilities;
- Reviewed injury and illness logs for compliance with OSHA’s new recordkeeping regulations (effective January 2002) and provided guidance on modifying company’s medical management program to avoid over-recording of certain injuries and illnesses;
- Represented a major battery recycling operation in entering into a cooperative compliance agreement with IOSHA affecting employee exposures to airborne lead and cadmium;
- Advised foundry client in IOSHA safety inspection related to induction furnace operations;
- Negotiated settlement with IOSHA in alleged fall protection violation resulting in employee fatality and alleged knowing violation of the IOSHA Act (penalty amount?); and
- Negotiated settlement and reduction of penalty of IOSHA Safety Order citing lockout tagout (de-energization of machinery) standard.
