New Economic Census Shows Franchising is a Growing Business Concept

New Economic Census Shows Franchising is a Growing Business Concept
April 4, 2018 by Christina Laun Fugate, Partner
The U.S. Census Bureau, for the first time, included franchising data and information in its Economic Census. The data shows franchises are vital to many industries in our economy, providing further proof that the franchise business model is growing. According to the Economic Census, for example, franchises make up about 54% of all fast-food restaurants, almost 70% of the sales of fast-food restaurants and about 73% of employment in fast-food restaurants. Other industries are greatly impacted, including the automobile industry, hotels, private mail centers, and real estate agents and brokers. More information about this new study can be found on the U.S. Census Bureau’s website:  https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2018/03/franchises.html.
