Ice Miller and Cristo Rey High School Prepare Students for Workplace Success
August 8, 2018
Ice Miller LLP works with Providence Cristo Rey High School annually to participate in the Corporate Work Study Internship Program. The program began in 2007 with the primary purpose of educating students about the wide range of jobs that are available within organizations and helping students be prepared for those opportunities, as well as any others. Through the work study program, Cristo Rey is building a pipeline of diverse, 21st century talent to prepare students for the demands of the growing knowledge-based economy.

In fall 2017, Ice Miller’s Cristo Rey student interns toured the Indiana Supreme Court and met with Justice Steven David. The interns received wonderful advice from Justice David, who told them to never compare their paths to anyone else’s, because everyone’s path will be different. Ice Miller provides the interns with experiences that show a wide range of opportunity in the legal world.

In 2017, Ice Miller started an alumni pipeline. Terry Majors joined the Firm as an Information Governance Specialist in the same department where he was an intern through the Corporate Work Study Internship Program.

“For me, this opportunity means the world. Everything comes full circle with enough effort and drive to wake up each day and remain committed to a purpose. I have a chance to share my own insight with current students on the foundation that was created for them to succeed,” said Terry. “I’m able to provide my best work for a company that took me in as a curious 14 -15 year old and show how much I’ve grown, to not only impact the workplace, but influence it in ways that consistently foster progression.”
