Reena Bajowala Selected for the American Bar Association Business Law Fellows Program
August 31, 2021

Ice Miller partner Reena Bajowala has been selected to the 2021-2023 class of the American Bar Association (ABA) Business Law Fellows Program. The Fellows Program provides young lawyers, lawyers of color, lawyers with disabilities and LGBT lawyers with the opportunity to engage in unique professional development opportunities such as leadership roles, mentorships and subsidized attendance at Business Law Section Meetings.

The Business Law Fellows Program is highly selective, requiring an extensive application process. Applicants are selected based on demonstrated leadership experience in the ABA, the Business Law Section or leadership experience in a bar organization for young lawyers, lawyers of color, LGBT lawyers or lawyers with disabilities. The 2021-2023 class was selected by the Business Law Fellows Committee and its co-chairs: Cara Bradley, deputy general counsel at Everbridge, and Hon. Mac R. McCoy, Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Reena has been a dedicated member of the ABA Business Law Section for many years, and she is also a member of the ABA Cyberspace Law Subcommittee. She is committed to advancing lawyers of color and serves on Ice Miller’s Racial Justice Task Force. Additionally, she was appointed by the Lawyer’s Trust Fund of Illinois to co-chair a Working Group on Diversity & Inclusion, and she serves on the Emerging Leaders Council of the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) and the Law Firm Anti-Racism Alliance’s Access to Justice Working Group.

As a partner in Ice Miller’s Data Security & Privacy, Information Technology (IT) & Software Disputes and Benefit Disputes practices, Reena represents buyers and providers of IT services embroiled in issues ranging from billing and performance disputes arising from Master Services Agreements and Service Level Agreements, to copyright and licensing disputes pursuant to Software Licensing and SaaS agreements. She also leads the Firm’s pro bono efforts in Illinois.

A Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) and Certified Information Privacy Professional – US (CIPP/US), Reena advises on data privacy and security, with a focus on data breach, cybersecurity and InfoSec issues. She also advises on issues of cyber literacy on public and private boards of directors and helps evaluate legal risks relating to emerging technologies, including Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and drones.

As a Business Law Fellow, Reena will help develop future leaders of the Business Law Section by participating in various committee activities and building connections with section leaders.

The ABA Business Law Section is a global network of almost 40,000 business law professionals with over 50 substantive committees covering almost every business law practice area. Its members utilize the section’s many resources and benefits to expand their knowledge, develop a professional network and advance their careers.
