December 13, 2018
Ice Miller partner Reena Bajowala won the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) Fellow Alumni Award on Dec. 5. The PILI Fellow Alumni Award recognizes one former PILI Fellow for outstanding contributions to public interest or pro bono work.

Reena, a 2003 PILI Intern and 2005 PILI Fellow, earned this award for the work she has done for underserved clients throughout her career. She obtained asylum for clients from Africa and Central America, first-chaired a Fair Housing Act trial that involved over a million pages of documentation and 60 depositions and helped secure the first public settlement for, and obtained a six-figure restitution on behalf of, a human trafficking victim. She also started a public interest program at the University of Michigan Law School in 2005 that has underwritten $125,000 in student public interest fellowships.

“We are extremely proud of Reena,” said John Burke, a managing partner at the Firm. “She is a credit to Ice Miller and the entire legal community. Reena is an unrelenting champion of equal justice for all.”

Reena R. Bajowala is a partner in Ice Miller’s Litigation Group, where her practice focuses on information technology disputes, employment (ERISA and FLSA) matters and data security and privacy counseling and defense, including developing compliance policies and programs, navigating data breach response and defending data breach litigation.
