Managing Partner Judy Okenfuss Named Finalist for Inspire Award for Her Commitment to Mentoring

Managing partner Judy Okenfuss has been named a finalist of the Inspire Award for Accounting, Legal and Finance. College Mentors for Kids presents this award to recognize outstanding professionals that have made a profound impact in the lives of their mentees.

Judy was recognized at the 2017 Inspire Awards at the 12:00 luncheon on Feb. 23 at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis. Judy was among five finalists in the Accounting, Legal and Finance category and 35 nominees overall in seven categories.

In her nearly 30 years at Ice Miller, Judy has shown a dedicated focus to mentorship. She has taken many young attorneys under her wing and helped develop them into leaders at the Firm. She has particularly blazed the trail for aspiring female leadership at the Firm, especially as a female managing partner.

Additionally, Judy is the chair of the Firm’s Internet of Things Industry Group and practices in the Litigation and Intellectual Property group. Judy graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Upon graduation, she worked as a technical service and development engineer at Dow Corning Corporation where she developed products for use in the aerospace industry. Following Dow Corning, she was employed as a materials and process engineer at McDonnell Douglas Corporation where she participated in the development of advanced fighter aircrafts. Judy then earned her juris doctorate from Washington University in 1991, where she graduated Order of the Coif.

Outside of the Firm, Judy is involved in her community in a number of ways. She is a member of the Washington University School of Law National Council, Washington University Alumnae Association and United Way Tocqueville Society. She is a past chair of the Peace Learning Center, a local nonprofit group which teaches youth nonviolence as a means of conflict resolution, and she has served as the President of the Indianapolis Zoological Guild.
