Whitney Rogers Participated in Women in Big Law Panel
February 18, 2019
Ice Miller attorney Whitney Rogers participated in the “Women in Big Law” panel discussion at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law on January 22, 2019. This panel is part of the McKinney Women’s Caucus “Women In” series, which explores women in various legal fields. The panel focused on women’s experiences at a big law firm, how to position yourself for a career in big law and how to decide whether big law is right for you.

“Big law” is an industry nickname for large law firms with at least 100 attorneys and typically more than one office. Whitney discussed the culture of Ice Miller including Ice Miller’s new paid parental leave policy, the Firm’s involvement in The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) and the opportunities available for mentorship. Whitney also provided insight into her experience at Ice Miller and what types of opportunities are available for current students. Whitney was one of four women representing big law firms in the Indianapolis community who provided advice to law students.

This is the first year of the “Women In” panel series, and its mission is to promote women in various legal fields and expose law students to a variety of women who represent different stories and backgrounds. The panels also provide a focus on diversity and inclusion by highlighting the experiences of women of color. The panel series was organized and moderated by Ta’tiana Foote, a 2L at McKinney who serves as the events coordinator for the Women’s Caucus and is Ice Miller’s diversity and inclusion intern.

Whitney Rodgers is an attorney in Ice Miller’s Municipal Finance Group with an emphasis on tax-exempt financings by schools and libraries. Whitney serves as bond counsel, underwriters’ counsel and disclosure counsel. Whitney also counsels clients on state law issues surrounding referenda and the petition-remonstrance process. In 2017, Whitney received her juris doctor from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, cum laude, with a certificate in energy, environmental and natural resources. Whitney is a 2014 Indiana Conference for Legal Opportunity Fellow.
