January 2, 2018

Attorney Nick Merker of Ice Miller’s Data Security and Privacy Group will serve as chair for the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) KnowledgeNet Chapters in Indianapolis for a two-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2018.

Nick will help build local communities of privacy professionals and seek out valuable educational and networking opportunities. He will lead chapter meetings, host speakers and coordinate activities at various IAPP conferences.

IAPP, founded in 2000, is the world’s largest information privacy organization. IAPP serves as a resource for privacy professionals to define, support and improve their industry. The non-profit hosts industry events and networking opportunities, provides a resource center, grants annual awards and developed and launched the only globally recognized credential programs for information privacy.

Nick Merker is a partner and co-chair of Ice Miller’s Data Security and Privacy Practice. His experience is unique, as he is only one of a handful of DSP lawyers in the country who can say they worked as a computer systems, network and security engineer for 10 years before practicing law. Nick’s technology background gives him the unique ability to bridge the gap between lawyers and technologists, often translating between the two disparate disciplines to resolve legal issues.

Ice Miller’s Data Security and Privacy Practice has extensive legal and real-world technological experience. Read more about our practice here.
