Partner Brian Crist Will Present During ABA Webinar Series, ‘Special Leasing Issues in Today's Economy’

Partner Brian Crist will be one of five presenters at the upcoming two-part webinar series, “Special Leasing Issues in Today's Economy,” co-sponsored by the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers on May 23 and June 27. The series offers CLE credit.

Real estate and legal industry leaders Cheryl Kelly, Loretta Kelly, Sujata Yalamanchili and Trev Edward Peterson will join Brian as panelists. The two, 90-minute CLE sessions will focus on issues such as build-to-suit leases, tenant bankruptcies and sale-leasebacks. Panelists will provide tips on how to protect client interests and how landlords and tenants can handle these issues.

Cost varies based on ABA and ACREL membership, and law students can view these webinars for free.

Session 1: The Top Ten Things Real Estate Transactional Lawyers Should Know About Tenant Bankruptcies in Today's Economy will take place on May 23 from 1-2:30 p.m. EDT. Speakers include Cheryl Kelly and Trev Peterson, who will discuss how transactional real estate lawyers can best protect their clients in the event of a tenant bankruptcy.

Session 2: Special Lease Situations: Build-to-Suit Leases and Sale-Leasebacks will take place on June 27 from 1-2:30 p.m. EDT. Brian will speak at this webinar as well as Loretta Kelly and Sujata Yalamanchili. The second session focuses on accounting and tax treatment of sale-leaseback transactions, as well as key terms to protect tenants and landlords in this type of agreement. Additionally, the panelists will discuss potential, complex issues in build-to-suit transactions from financing to construction to completion.
