Ice Miller’s Lesa Dietrick Joins Inside Indiana Business’ ‘Insider’ Panel

Director of public affairs Lesa Dietrick made her debut on Inside Indiana Business’ Insiders segment with Gerry Dick on Nov. 18. Lesa joined Murray Clark, partner at Faegre Baker Daniels, and Allison Barber, Chancellor at WGU Indiana.

The “insiders” discussed last week’s top headlines, including the reaction following the state and national elections, the Affordable Care Act’s impact on Indiana, layoffs at businesses statewide and the future of our city’s Indy Eleven soccer team.

The panel spoke in depth about the transitions following the election, and Lesa offered insight on Indiana’s increased visibility now that the Hoosier Vice President-Elect, Mike Pence, has taken the national stage.

“He’s going to do, I think, a really good job with the transition,” Lesa added. “We should take advantage of the successes that economic development organizations have had here in the state, and really leverage that into higher visibility for increased job creation in our state.”

A recent wave of layoffs in the state of Indiana, including Rexnord outsourcing jobs to Mexico, has brought Indiana to the forefront of the national conversation about bringing jobs back to America. Lesa said she believes the rise of the Trump administration will bring this topic “front and center.”

“We have other folks who are involved in re-training and getting good skills for those workers and bringing them back into the workforce,” she said.
