October 19, 2020
Tyler Kalachnik, a partner and vice chair of Ice Miller’s Municipal Finance Group, was named a member of The Bond Buyer 2020 Rising Stars Class.

In its fifth year, the Rising Stars program continues to showcase the brightest young minds in the municipal bond industry. The goal of the initiative is to identify municipal finance professionals under the age of 40 whose knowledge, collaborative spirit, innovation and creativity have enabled them to make a positive contribution to the community and positioned them as future (or, in some cases, current) industry leaders.

According to The Bond Buyer, “The young public finance professionals chosen as this year’s Bond Buyer Rising Stars exemplify the market’s spirit of resilience and community, having risen to the challenge of the coronavirus pandemic to deliver for their clients, customers and taxpayers.”

Tyler has served as bond counsel, underwriter's counsel, disclosure counsel and borrower's counsel for both long-term and short-term financings involving the pledge of revenues, taxes or a combination thereof. Tyler also has experience in transactions involving letters of credit, standby bond purchase agreements, interest rate and commodity swaps.

Representative financings include single and multi-family housing projects, airports, municipal gas utilities, prepaid natural gas transactions, municipal water utilities, Indiana's State Revolving Fund Program, solid waste disposal facilities, 501(c)(3) organizations  and temporary loan warrants for political subdivisions and school corporations. Tyler also works in the Municipal Finance Group's rebate calculation practice and is focused on the emerging Opportunity Zones incentives.

Tyler is a 1999 graduate of Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. In 2003, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in business from Indiana University Bloomington. In 2006, he earned his juris doctorate, summa cum laude, from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
