Patent Associate – Indianapolis Office

Ice Miller LLP, a firm with over 300 attorneys and offices in Chicago, Columbus, New York, DuPage County, Ill., Indianapolis, and Washington, D.C., seeks to add a patent attorney with 3 or more years of patent prosecution experience to its Indianapolis office.

Candidates with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering (or similar) are preferred. Other intellectual property or business experience is also preferred in the areas of engineering, patent prosecution and technology licensing. Must be admitted to the Patent Bar.

Candidate must excel in team environment and have the personality to develop and implement networking skills both externally and internally. Must be a highly motivated self-starter, with excellent business judgment and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

The successful candidate will perform a broad range of legal functions in Ice Miller's Intellectual Property Practice Group. Attorneys in this group are experienced in patent prosecution in all technological areas, licensing, technology transactions, intellectual property protection and enforcement (including litigation), and general intellectual property strategies. Additionally, once the candidate demonstrates a high level of proficiency in all aspects of the practice, the attorney will have the option of choosing any of Ice Miller’s other offices as a primary office.

Ice Miller's Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) 1L Scholar - Indianapolis Office
Ice Miller is pleased to participate in the LCLD Scholars Program.  One (1) LCLD Scholar opportunity will be awarded to a 1L law student (anticipated graduation in 2020) for the Summer of 2018. 

You will participate in our Summer Program and be based in our Indianapolis office. This 10-week program includes:
  • Opportunities to develop direct working relationships with our attorneys to enhance your research, writing and presentation skills.
  • Guidance and mentoring from our Summer Program Lawyer Advisory Team.
  • Opportunities for client contact.
  • Participation in social events and activities including dinner outings, team building activities, a community service day, and gatherings hosted by our partners.
  • A competitive weekly stipend.
The ideal candidate will:

Qualified Plan Work Benefits Attorney - Indianapolis Office
Our Indianapolis office is seeking a highly motivated attorney with 3 or more years of experience in qualified plan work who will perform a broad range of legal functions in a dynamic employee benefits practice, with over 16 practicing professionals focused solely on employee benefits.  
 
Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication, as well as analytical skills. Must be a highly motivated self-starter, with sound business judgment and the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position offers very sophisticated client work and therefore candidates must have strong client-relationship skills.  Candidates should have good working knowledge of employee benefits law in pension and retirement plans.

Employee Benefits Attorney - Indianapolis Office
Our Indianapolis office is seeking a highly motivated attorney with at least 3 years of experience in employee benefit matters who will perform a broad range of legal functions in a dynamic employee benefits practice. This attorney will be joining a large employee benefits group with a national practice.
 
Must be a highly motivated self-starter, with excellent business judgment and the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position offers very sophisticated client work.  Candidates should have a working knowledge of employee benefit law in pension/retirement plans and/or health and welfare plans.
