Mid-Level Software/Computer Science Patent Litigation Associate – Any Office
Ice Miller is seeking a mid-level patent attorney with litigation experience. The associate would become part of a team that represents clients in various patent litigation matters around the country, as well as prosecute patent applications in the United States and direct foreign patent prosecution. The attorney will work with our partners and clients on electrical, computer science, and software matters. Candidates must have excellent legal research and writing skills, strong oral communication skills, a team-oriented mentality, and be a motivated self-starter with excellent law school credentials and references. We prefer candidates who have written discovery and deposition experience, who have drafted pleadings, motions, and briefs, and who have courtroom experience.

Litigation Attorney (1500 Hours) – Columbus

Ice Miller is seeking an attorney with a minimum of 3 years’ of litigation experience to join our Columbus or Indianapolis office and become part of a team that represents clients in a variety of litigation matters around the country. Candidates must have excellent legal research and writing skills, strong oral communication skills, a team-oriented mentality, and be a motivated self-starter with strong law school credentials and references. This is a non-partnership track position that presents significant flexibility in terms of billable hours and remote working arrangements.

Mid-Level White Collar Defense & Investigations Associate – Washington, D.C.

Ice Miller is seeking an associate with four to five years of white collar criminal defense and government investigations experience to join our Litigation practice group in Washington, DC. Mid-to-Senior Level Finance Associate – Columbus or Indianapolis

Ice Miller is seeking a mid-to-senior level finance associate with at least 4 years of law firm experience to join our business group in our Indianapolis or Columbus office.

Successful candidates will work with our business group across several offices representing lenders and borrowers in varied and complex financial transactions with a particular focus on the financing of private equity acquisitions and both senior and mezzanine debt transactions. Prior experience with structuring, documenting, and closing financing transactions in a wide variety of industries required. Tax Associate – Indianapolis
Ice Miller is seeking an attorney with at least 2-3 years of experience working on federal, state, and local tax matters. Patent Attorney/Patent Agent – Philadelphia
Ice Miller seeks a patent attorney or patent agent with at least 2 years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in a variety of pharmaceutical, chemical and life sciences matters. The patent attorney/patent agent will work on all aspects of patent practice with particular focus on preparation and prosecution of patent applications, freedom to operate and due diligence search and analysis projects. Candidates must be registered patent agents or patent attorneys and have an advanced degree in organic chemistry or biochemistry and research experience in biological sciences. They should be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive materials, and maintain strict confidentiality due to the nature of the position.

In this position, you will:
  • Provide technical expertise in life sciences, chemistry or pharmaceutical patent practice
  • Conduct freedom to operate and/or IP due diligence search and analysis in support of the licensing and acquisitions and/or research and development of small- and large-molecule products 
  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications, and help develop strong patent portfolios for drug candidates
  • Liaise with clients and foreign associates regarding the domestic and foreign patent application processes and strategies
  • Communicate with the USPTO as necessary
  • Identify and review ongoing issues that might affect the patent process
  • Help develop patent portfolios, manage the patent docket and communicate dates and ensure deadlines are met
 
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Ph.D. in organic chemistry or biochemistry , with research experience in biological sciences

Public Affairs Attorney or Professional -- Washington, D.C.
 

Ice Miller is seeking an experienced attorney or public affairs professional to join our Federal Public Affairs practice group in Washington, D.C. Candidates must have at least 5-10 years of experience in the public and/or private sector with experience in any of the following areas: healthcare; energy; tax; trade; and appropriations.
 
In this position you will:

  • Work with a small, close-knit team of attorneys, lobbyists, and professional staff;
  • Be part of a sophisticated, growing federal affairs practice that advises private entities, foreign governments, state and local governments, non-profit and advocacy organizations, and individuals on a broad range of federal policy issues;
  • Have opportunities for advancement in a collegial environment with a young, dynamic, diverse, and bipartisan federal public affairs team;
  • Collaborate with talented and team-oriented attorneys across practice groups and across offices; and
  • Have the ability to work remotely while maintaining an office and client presence in brand new Washington, D.C. office space

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have some combination of experience as a Congressional staffer and/or at a federal agency in a senior legal or policy role;
  • Have prior experience in a federal, multi-client environment (legal or lobbying);
  • Be willing to register on behalf of Ice Miller clients pursuant to the Lobbyist Disclosure Act and/or Foreign Agents Registration Act, as applicable;
  • Engage with Ice Miller’s Federal Political Action Committee and any associated fundraising activities;
  • For lawyer candidates, be licensed or become licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C.;
  • Excel in a team environment;
  • Be highly motivated and a self-starter;
  • Be flexible and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in developing and implementing relationship-building skills both internally and externally;
  • Have prior experiences that prepare them to work with attorneys, staff and clients from cultures and backgrounds different from their own;
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills;
