In-House Workshops
In addition to our annual comprehensive training and development academies, Ice Miller also hosts Firm-wide workshops on a monthly basis. These workshops provide training and skill development on a wide variety of topics, including business development strategies, law firm financials and current legal trends.
Ice Miller’s signature Advocacy Training program also brings together litigators from across the Firm for monthly development opportunities, culminating in an annual mock trial.
Coaching and Mentorship
Ice Miller recognizes that starting at a new firm can be difficult. To facilitate this transition, every new attorney who joins the Firm is assigned an onboarding mentor designed to provide you with the information and guidance you need to succeed, whether you are a recent law school graduate or a lateral partner.
In addition, all associates and counsel are eligible to participate in the Firm’s coaching program. This program makes available to you a roster of specially trained partners who can help you achieve your personal and professional career goals through a combination of coaching and mentoring.
Feedback and Reviews
No matter your experience level, a critical component of career development is receiving feedback. Ice Miller facilitates this through our online instant feedback system, allowing associates and counsel to solicit project-based feedback directly from supervisors without waiting for the annual review process.
The annual review process is overseen by a dedicated committee of partners, focused on providing specific, objective feedback. Reviews are grounded in the competency framework to promote transparency and fairness, ensuring all of our attorneys understand what is expected of them and are evaluated objectively.
