Ice Miller Strengthens IP Practice with Philadelphia Office

Ice Miller LLP is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Philadelphia. The eighth Ice Miller office is located at 1735 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

Frederick Tecce joins the Firm as the Philadelphia office managing partner and leads the Intellectual Property (IP) Practice in that office. Fred combines his trial experience as a former assistant U.S. attorney in the criminal division with his engineering background to represent clients in hundreds of cases involving trade secret, patent and other IP matters.

Fred is joined by partner Aaron Ettelman and of counsel Bryon Wasserman. Aaron’s practice focuses on all aspects of IP rights, particularly those pertaining to chemical and biochemical matters, including patent prosecution, counseling and opinions, due diligence, post-issuance proceedings, litigation and licensing. Bryon is an IP attorney experienced in litigating patent actions before federal district courts, the International Trade Commission and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also has extensive experience evaluating IP assets.

“Our goal is to strengthen our IP practice in its own right and as a complement to our robust corporate practice as well as our Data Security and Privacy Practice and our Internet of Things Industry Group,” said Steve Humke, chief managing partner of Ice Miller. “The addition of Fred and his team is a significant step in realizing this goal.”

“With today’s developing technology and the emergence of the Internet of Things, protection of IP assets has become more difficult, yet more critical, than ever,” Fred explained. “I was attracted to Ice Miller’s collaborative team approach and full-service IP practice.”

Ice Miller offers a range of IP legal services, including preparation, filing and prosecution of patent, trademark and copyright applications in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and in foreign countries. Attorneys at the Firm prepare and negotiate licenses and other contracts for protection of IP assets here and abroad and litigate patent, trademark, copyright, antitrust, trade secret, right of publicity and unfair competition issues in state and federal courts of the United States.

Ice Miller assists its IP clients with their computer-related technology assets, including software, domain names and website content. The Firm also drafts, negotiates, enforces and defends, license, distribution, employment and asset transfer agreements specific to these rights as well as the overall rights of companies and individuals.

Ice Miller’s IP Practice includes registered patent attorneys with decades of experience in assisting clients with their IP needs and issues on a cost-effective basis. When necessary, the Firm represents IP clients’ rights at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Within the IP Practice are attorneys with industry experience and advanced degrees in technology and business.

“The growth of our IP Practice expands and strengthens the resources available to our clients as we assist them in acquiring, protecting and defending their valuable assets worldwide,” said Michael Wukmer, partner and chair of the Ice Miller IP Practice.
